“We have not inherited this earth from our forefathers; we have borrowed it from our children.”
What is "sustainability"?
Sustainability simply means - meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Sustainable living is a simple concept whose objective is to reduce personal and societal environmental impact by taking steps to counteract environmental concerns.
A sustainable lifestyle is a road-map, an action plan towards a promising future where living conditions and resource-use satisfy human needs without undermining the “integrity, stability and beauty” of the environment.
Why is it relevant today?
Climate change, global warming and resource depletion are not tales of far off lands. In fact, they are the harsh realities of the world we live in today. The dire need to shift to more eco-friendly practices keeps growing as we continue to deplete our resources at a rate at which they cannot be replenished. Now more than ever, it is crucial that we turn to a more sustainable lifestyle and pledge to reduce our carbon footprint on the environment.
